Simco Drops is pleased to present Leaders of the Old School by Brandon Deener, an NFT and print portfolio release. In Leaders of the Old School, 2022 Brandon Deener pays homage to three iconic visionaries of the 20th century civil rights movement: Martin Luther King Jr., James Baldwin and Malcolm X. With a loving hand, Deener renders each figure in supreme detail, atop Deener’s signature elongated necks. This lithograph triptych coincides with Deener’s debut solo exhibition Children of the Sun, Sol Searchin’, a survey of the artist’s recent paintings and works on paper, which depict his unique interpretation of Afro-futurism, Black Pride and figuration.  

The suite of three prints that comprise Leaders of the Old School were printed as a duo-tone lithograph in Downtown Los Angeles, at the print studio of El Nopal Press by master printer Francesco X. Siquieros. Each set of prints is presented in an embossed sleeve, and includes a colophon that lists the project’s details, both produced by Brooke Granowski at Sorella Studios in South El Monte, CA.

The artist's drop will start on 02/18/21 at 12:00pm PST. The collector who acquires Leaders of the Old School - #1 will also receive the corresponding physical print portfolio signed by the artist, #1 from an edition of 150 courtesy of Simco Editions. Please note the physical print portfolio is only redeemable once by the original collector of the NFT.

The remainder of each print edition will be available via the Simchowitz shop, and will be released on 02/19/21 at 12:00pm PST.
