"100 Performances"
— Marc Horowitz
Simco Drops presents 100 Performances by Marc Horowitz. For this drop, the artist combines his ongoing ‘performance tweets’ with the digitally manipulated imagery he utilizes as starting points for his physical mixed-media paintings, producing a unique series of NFTs that invite the collector inside the artist’s creative process. Each work functions both as an aesthetic token and an instruction for the viewer to participate in the performance with the artist.

From the artist: "Combining psyops, social practice, and the textured history of painting, these NFTs are not only a smart way to invest ETH ;) but function as calls-to-action. These 100 performances also operate outside of the NFT space, in that participants may post their enacted results as replies to the original tweets. Important note: don't kill yourself and please refer to the disclaimer. God speed :)"

The drop of 100 works will take place on 09/10/2021 at 12:00pm PST. After a 1 week period, a random lucky collector who holds at least 1 Performance work in their wallet will be selected to receive 100 Performances, a unique NFT with all 100 Performances in a single image. Additionally, another lucky collector will be randomly gifted Performance 101, a unique NFT with a message that will connect the collector directly with Marc Horowitz, who will create a custom Performance NFT for the winner and gift to them. Each Performance artwork purchase also includes a link to the unique PNG image file via the IPFS gateway.

The artist has also produced 100 Performances as a signed limited edition print, courtesy of Simco Editions. The print will be available via the Simchowitz Online Shop beginning on 09/10/2021 at 12:00pm PDT.

Marc Horowitz is a Los Angeles-based artist whose multifaceted and trailblazing practice takes form via painting, sculpture, video, and installation, along with an innovative social practice informed by his background in entertainment and advertising. Equal parts postmodern and post-internet, Horowitz’s work flattens the hierarchies of culture, politics, relationality, and history. Referencing Sigmar Polke as much as Mike Kelley, Horowitz creates a diverse but singular visual universe which aesthetically folds in on itself in unexpected and visionary ways.

A Creative Time Project Grant Awardee, Horowitz has taught at the University of Southern California, the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Otis College, and lectured at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), the Hammer Museum, Stanford University, and Yale.
